Since 1964 paid work experience is the vocational training
medium used in the Work Activity Program. Rehabilitation support is provided
by professional staff. Adults with disabilities work on a wide variety
of assembly, packaging, bundling, palletizing,
shop maintenance, janitorial, site maintenance, and
office/clerical jobs. |
Support Services include:
Individual case management
Work Adjustment services
Job exploration, situational assessment
Communication training
Entrance Criteria

¯
Consumer is at least
eighteen (18) years of age.
|
¯
Third party sponsors (i.e. public or private agency, individual trust fund,
etc.)
|
|
¯Able
to provide own transportation or make transportation arrangements
through another source to
ISS.
|
|
¯ Consumer
has a medically documented physical, emotional, and/or
developmental impairment creating a barrier to
employment.
|
|
¯
Consumer must be able to care for
personal needs (i.e., take own
medications, transportation, toileting, etc.
|
|
¯
Consumer must be able to
benefit from the services available.
|
|
¯
Consumer must have a physical and TB Test that is no more than one year old.
|
|
¯
Completed I-9
|
|
Through work on subcontract jobs, workers earn wages based on Industrial
Standards and are in line with Federal Wage and Hour Law as specified for
facilities for people with disabilities. Consumer Services are
accredited by CARF (The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission). |
